I have two business cards. One identifies me as a researcher at the University of Cambridge, where I investigate the convergence of plasma physics, quantum entanglement, and conscious awareness. The other lists my work as a shamanic practitioner, initiated as a Shamanic Elder in the Andean tradition, also trained by Norse shamans, facilitating healing sessions and soul retrievals. "So ... which one is the real you?" Both. And that's precisely the point.

When a scientist dismisses spiritual experiences as "just brain chemistry" or "nothing but neurons firing," they're not making a scientific statement. They're making a philosophical claim that the subjective character of experience doesn't matter, that first-person phenomenology is somehow less real than third-person measurement. But that's not a scientific conclusion. It's a philosophical assumption they brought to the investigation.
